VENUES

This section of MILESAGO is dedicated to recording the history of Australian and New Zealand music venues of the Sixties and early Seventies -- the big concert halls and ballrooms, outdoor stadiums, inner-city clubs and discotheques, and the numerous suburban and country halls.

We believe this a very important and urgent area of research. Many venues of the era are already long-gone -- either converted to other uses or, like the fabled Cloudland Ballroom and Brisbane Festival Hall, now demolished. The live music scene in this period was one of the most vibrant (and lucrative) in the world -- even in early '60s there were literally dozens of dances every weekend in major cities.

We are keen to hear from anyone who has any information about venues they used to visit, especially if you have any photographs. If you would like to add more information or write about your favourite venue, please email us here at MILESAGO and we'll be happy to add your contribution.
