STAGE & THEATRE 1964-75

This section of MILESAGO features important local musical stage productions such as Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show -- shows that are of special interest to rock music fans because of the presence of performers who were drawn from the Australian popular music scene and their innovative use of rock band instrumentation instead of the traditional theatre orchestrations.

As we expand the section, we also hope to include information about the major professional theatrical companies of the period including Sydney's legendary Old Tote and Nimrod Theatre, and Melbourne's La Mama, which pioneeered so much of the new wave of Australian theatre. We also hope to take a look at significant amateur productions like the annual university faculty revues.

If you have any information about these shows and theatre companies that you'd like to add to the site, please contact us here at MILESAGO and we'll be pleased to include your contribution.
