STAGE & THEATRE 1964-75

This section details significant local musical stage productions in the period 1964-75 including Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar and The Rocky Horror Show. These shows are of particular interest because of they were part of a new wave of musical theatre with innovative use of rock band instrumentation instead of the traditional theatre orchestrationsand also because they featured many performers from the Australian popular music scene and .

As we this section grows, we hope to include information and links for major productions and theatre companies of the period including Sydney's renowned Old Tote and Nimrod theatres, and Melbourne's La Mama, which premiered many works of the "new wave" of Australian theatre in the early 1970s. We also hope to include significant amateur productions like the annual university faculty revues.

If you have any information about these shows and theatre companies that you'd like to add to the site, please
contact us here at MILESAGO and we'll be pleased to include your contribution.
