Richard started his career in the early 60's as a studio assistant at EMI's legendary Abbey Rd studios in London. By the mid-60s he was an assistant engineer, and beginning with Sgt Pepper's Lonly Hearts Club Band in 1967, he worked with producer George Martin and senior engineers Geoff Emerick and Chris Thomas on many of The Beatles later recordings, amongst his other credits. He moved to Australia in the mid-70s and took over from Festival house producer Richard Batchens in 1976 as as producer of Sherbet. He produced almost all their later albums and singles including their 1976 classic Howzat.
